In my last post, I mentioned my reservations/questions about AddThis flash cookie. Since then, AddThis has been great to answer my questions. From my research and asking questions, I feel I have a clear understanding of the flash cookie. In the simplest of terms, the flash cookie works very similar to Google Analytics, so as to provide detailed stats on how the service is being used.
I have chosen to use AddToAny for two reasons. First, AddToAny provides Google Analytics integration. AddThis does not currently have Google Analytics integration. Second, I feel uncomfortable tracking people outside of Google Analytics.
To be fair, I think both AddThis and AddToAny provide great services. We use AddThis at work and I really like how AddThis can be customized. I do hope AddThis will eventually allow analytics integration in the future.
Hey, thanks for choosing AddToAny. We’ve had Google Analytics integration for over a year now and it’s been a hit. Feel free to get in touch if you ever have any suggestions or questions. Cheers!
Thanks so much for taking a look at AddThis. We really appreciate it. As you noted, we do plan on supporting Google Analytics integration. Stay tuned.
A few things to keep in mind… AddThis sharing tools are used about 3 times more widely then it’s closest competitor. The footprint of our button code is about 1/5 of our closest competitor.
Plus we’ve done a lot of work to make sure that the destinations presented within the menu are optimized to make sure you get the most shares possible. We have insights into what’s going to get you the best results due to our large reach.
In the end, it’s all about who’s going to get you the most shares. Right?
